Last night my sunflower got blown over during a rain storm. :(
I was pretty (still am a little) sad about it.
I really like sunflowers and this one had just started to bloom last week.
When it got blown over I went out to see if it could be salvaged.
It was snapped clean off at the ground.
There was only one thing for me to do and that was cut all the blooms off and bring them inside.
This event brought two scriptures to mind:
First, Matthew 6:30 Wherefore, if God so clothe the grass of the field, which to day is and to morrow is cast into the oven, shall he not much more clothe you, O ye of little faith?
Second, Jonah 4:10 Then said the LORD, Thou hast had pity on the gourd, for the which thou hast not laboured, neither madest it grow; which came up in a night, and perished in a night:
The lesson being: The life of plants is not important, they come and go. I should not be sad about plants or worried about material goods. The things I should be concerned about are reaching souls with the gospel and having faith in God.
It makes a beautiful bouquet! I love sunflowers too!
ReplyDeleteYour sunflower bouquet turned out very pretty! It's neat how God can use ordinary happenings in life teach us a spiritual lesson, and how fleeting the things in this life are in comparison to eternal realities, and the importance of sharing the Gospel with others. I appreciated reading this and the Scripture verses you shared!
ReplyDeleteI was really impressed with the Scriptures verses and what you wrote after it about the sunflowers and the lesson from it. You sure made a beautiful bouquet out of the beauty of God's lovely flowers, you seem to have a talent in making bouquets. Please draw and paint a picture of them :).. pretty.please. Love M....
ReplyDeleteThe flowers were beautiful and at lest you got to enjoy them inside :) I planted all those zinnias but have the hardest time making myself cut them to bring inside.
