Save Us From Fear!

 Psalms 64:1

Hear my voice, O God, in my prayer: preserve my life from fear of the enemy.

This verse doesn't says, "preserve my life from the enemy." No, it says, "preserve my life from fear of the enemy."
Isn't that interesting?

Fear is often worse than the threat.

>Fear will keep us from obeying Christ.<

Acts 5:29
Then Peter and the other apostles answered and said, We ought to obey God rather than men.

Had Peter and the other apostles feared what man could do unto them they would have obeyed men rather than God.

Luke 12:4
And I say unto you my friends, Be not afraid of them that kill the body, and after that have no more that they can do.

The apostles were not governed by fear, therefore, they were able to make the right choice: to obey God rather than men.

Psalms 118:6
The LORD is on my side; I will not fear: what can man do unto me?

When you live in obedience to God you know the LORD is on your side. And, when the LORD is on your side, you can say, "what can man do unto me?"
 Fear has no place.

2 Timothy 1:7
For God hath not given us the spirit of fear; but of power, and of love, and of a sound mind.

In fact, fear is a lack of faith.
 What are you afraid of?
Are you afraid of your financial situation?
Trust God. He will take care of you.
Are you afraid of illness?
Trust God. He will take care of you.
Are you afraid of death?
Trust God. He will take care of you.
Are you afraid of censorship, the government, the media?
Trust God. He will take care of you.
Are you afraid of storms?
Trust God. He will take care of you.
Are you afraid of failure?
Trust God. He will take care of you.
Are you afraid of pain?
Trust God. He will take care of you.

Hebrews 11:6
But without faith it is impossible to please him: for he that cometh to God must believe that he is, and that he is a rewarder of them that diligently seek him.

To please God you must have faith.
>Fear is a failure to have faith.<

How many times does the Bible command, "Fear not," "Be not afraid," "Have no fear," or any variant of that phrase?
By my reckoning, at least 120 times!

There is someone that we are commanded to fear, and that someone is God himself.

1 Peter 2:17
Honour all men. Love the brotherhood. Fear God. Honour the king.

The fear of God will actually keep you from sin.

     Exodus 20:20

And Moses said unto the people, Fear not: for God is come to prove you, and that his fear may be before your faces, that ye sin not.

Take a look at the testimony of the Hebrew midwives.

Exodus 1:17

But the midwives feared God, and did not as the king of Egypt commanded them, but saved the men children alive.

They feared God. That is what the Bible says. They feared God and that caused them to do what was right in His sight.

When we fear God we won't be afraid of other things. If we fear God, we are going to obey Him. He commands us to not be afraid of anything beside Himself.

Deuteronomy 13:4

Ye shall walk after the LORD your God, and fear him, and keep his commandments, and obey his voice, and ye shall serve him, and cleave unto him.

If we fear God, we will believe Him. He says He will take care of us. We must believe that He will take care of us.

Deuteronomy 31:8

And the LORD, he it is that doth go before thee; he will be with thee, he will not fail thee, neither forsake thee: fear not, neither be dismayed.

Again, take a look at the testimony of the Hebrew midwives.

Exodus 1:21

And it came to pass, because the midwives feared God, that he made them houses.

Do you see how God took care of them? God provided houses for the midwives. They had a safe dwelling because they were not afraid of the king.

God is able to take care of our needs, both physical and spiritual.

What can possibly cause us to fear? It is when we take our eyes off the LORD that we become afraid.

Matthew 14:30

But when he saw the wind boisterous, he was afraid; and beginning to sink, he cried, saying, Lord, save me.

And immediately Jesus stretched forth his hand, and caught him, and said unto him, O thou of little faith, wherefore didst thou doubt?

"Dear Lord,

Save us from fear.

Help us trust and obey you.

Amen."

John 14:27

Peace I leave with you, my peace I give unto you: not as the world giveth, give I unto you. Let not your heart be troubled, neither let it be afraid.

Against The Wind / Podcast Recommendation

I am sharing this podcast recommendation here just out of my support for Dr. Paul.

Dr. Paul Thomas is a pediatrician from Oregon and a champion of Informed Consent and Medical Freedom. My children and I have enjoyed watching his Youtube videos for years.

This past December Dr. Paul published data that he had collected in his pediatric practice. The data compared health outcomes between vaccinated children and unvaccinated children.

Read The Study HERE.

The Oregon Medical Board held an emergency meeting and suspended Dr. Paul's medical license.

Dr. Paul is doing what he can to get his license reinstated.

In the meantime he has thrown his energies into producing this podcast:

Against The Wind: Doctors And Science Under Fire

I have been binge listening to Against The Wind to catch up to the current episode. I have found the interviews very interesting. Dr. Paul has had a diverse group of Doctors and Scientist as guests on his show. The information and the studies that they discuss are being suppressed on the mainstream media outlets. Against The Wind makes it easy to access these unpopular findings and see, not only the benefits, but, also, the risks to pharmaceutical treatments.

The podcast has a lot of relevant information about the illness that is getting a lot of attention in the news right now. The Doctors on the show explain why the fear running rampant is really uncalled for.

I appreciate Dr. Paul's willingness to acknowledge the risks associated with vaccines, and his boldness to stand up for the data that he found. He published it as he found it. He published it because he thought it would help children and families. He certainly didn't publish the data for his own benefit.

Please go check out his podcast, Against The Wind, if any of these topics interest you!

Of course, I must have a disclaimer that states: I don't endorse all of Dr. Paul's views. In case anyone out there has the unrealistic idea that I can't recommend anything unless I agree with every little thing that a person says or does.

How To Fold A Flat Diaper

I have been cloth diapering my one year old for the past month or so. Lately I have spent a lot of time washing and folding cloth diapers.

Flat diapers on the clothes line.

My favorite cloth diaper method has been to use flats or prefolds with water proof covers. And between the two, (flats and prefolds), I prefer flats.

Here is how to fold a flat diaper.

Lay the diaper out in front of you.

Fold the right side toward the center.
Eye balling it,
Fold the right edge just a few inches past
the center line.

Fold the left side towards the center.
Again,
fold the edge just past the center point.
You want the fabric in the middle to
over lap by 3-4 inches.

Fold the lower edge up towards the middle.

You want to fold the lower edge up more
for smaller babies and less for
larger babies. This adjusts the size of
the diaper for the size of the baby.

Fold the right third over the middle.

Fold the left third over the middle.
I like to tuck the left flap into the pocket created by folded down bit
on the right side.

Ta-da! The diaper is ready to be used!

To put the diaper on a baby:
Open the flaps at the top, this will
be the back of the diaper.

Position the baby on the diaper.

Pull the front portion of the diaper,
the part with the extra absorbancy,
up between the baby's legs.

Pin the back corner, on one side,
to the front of the diaper.
Careful, don't poke the baby!

Pin the back corner, on the other side,
to the front of the diaper.

And that is a wrap!
Let me know if you cloth diaper or if you would like to see more posts about cloth diapering!

Lumpia Recipe

Our Pastor has raved about Lumpia after he has come home from different trips to the Philippines. He said they are like egg rolls and they are served with a delicious, sweet, chili sauce.

I decided to give Lumpia a try. I looked online for recipes. I came across this one by Philip Lemoine, a man in Hawaii who's Mom came from the Philippines.

The thing that sold me on this recipe was this note at the bottom of the ingredient quantities,

"This is PLENTY of garlic and you do not need to double this like we all do when we see garlic in a recipe."

Yes! "We" always double garlic in recipes! :)

And with that feeling of camaraderie I purchased the ingredients and made a jumbo batch of Lumpia.

In the video recipe he mentions the special sweet chili sauce. I found the same brand of sweet chili sauce at the Chinese Grocery Store. Our Pastor confirmed that the Mae Ploy sauce was the same brand that he had been served while he was in the Philippines.

Lumpia Recipe

2 lbs. Ground Pork
2 lbs. 80/20 Ground Beef
2 eggs
4 oz. Soy Sauce
10 oz. Minced Carrots
16 oz. Minced Onions
3.5 oz. Minced Garlic
1 TBS. Black Pepper
Salt to taste (1 1/2 tsp.)
80 to 100 Lumpia Wrappers, Thawed
Egg Wash

Mince the vegetables in a food processor.
Combine all the ingredients, (except for the Lumpia Wrappers and Egg Wash),  in a large bowl.
Mix thoroughly with your hands.
Peel apart all the Lumpia Wrappers and put in a plastic bag to keep from drying out.
Use a 1 oz. ice cream or cookie scoop to portion the filling for each wrapper.
To wrap Lumpia:
Place a wrapper in front of you on a diagonal. Put a scoop of filling slightly off center on the wrapper.

Fold the bottom corner, snuggly, up over the filling.

Fold both of the side corners toward the center.

Dip your finger into the Egg Wash and "paint" it onto the top flap.

Roll the Lumpia up.

Place the Lumpia on sheet pan and freeze over night.
Remove from sheet pan and place in plastic bag for storage.
To fry:
Heat 3-4 inches of frying oil to 375° F.
Put frozen Lumpia into hot oil. Do not over crowd the pan.
Fry until golden brown, 6-8 minutes.
Serve with Mae Ploy Sweet Chili Sauce.
